Hardtop or Sedan? One of the most mis-understood terms used in the antique, old and classic buick parts industry is whether or not your car body type is a Hardtop or a Sedan style. This is a common problem that is really easy to understand! Picture in your mind rolling all the side windows down. Could you now run your arm from front to back without hitting a fixed post? If the answer is yes, it's a Hardtop. If the answer is no and you smacked your arm on a fixed post that didn't roll down, it's a Sedan. A Hardtop may be called a Sport Coupe, Pillarless Coupe or Riviera (as Buick pioneered this innovation in 1949). A Sedan, Sedanet or a Coup body style has a fixed post that never moves or rolls down. There are exceptions to this, but rarely. How many doors the car has is not an issue because both body styles came in 2-door and 4-door models. Have you ever ordered body parts, especially rubber weatherstrips for your car and they didn't even come close? Always give Year, Model and Body style when you ask for parts.
We have been serving the old car parts and the antique and classic car community
for over 27 years. For all of those years we were in Southern California. In the fall of 2002,
we moved to Oregon, where we're now well established and serving our customer's needs.
Our sincere thanks go to all of our customers, both loyal old ones who have been at this for
a while and our new ones just starting a "Love Affair" with an old car. Marc Smiley - Pres.
